The level of water in “Valea Morilor” lake rose by about 1 meter over the admissible limit. The beach was flooded and the two decanters that ensured the filtering of the water are overfull. According to specialists’ estimates, the level of water in the lake was to reach a record level in only two years, IPN reports.

In a communiqué, the Chisinau City Hall says the level of water will return to the admissible level in several days. The surplus of water is pouring into the Byk through the drainage channels.

Contacted by IPN, the heads of the municipal services responsible for the management of the housing stock and roads in Chisinau said the workers have been involved in pumping water out of basements and in cleaning the mud from streets. The works will continue at night.

The head of the Public Amenities Division Petru Gontea said that 186 apartments were flooded in Chisinau. The Division’s workers took the water out of 30 basements and cleaned the mud from 20 yards, while the head of the road maintenance company “Exdrupo” Efim Cheptanari said that two vehicles are transporting the mud collected on Calea Iesilor St and works are carried out to unblock Albisoara St that was partially flooded.
