Water from „Valea Morilor” lake will be pumped out in October

The specialists from Chisinau are examining during this week the possibility of pumping out the water from Valea Morilor Lake, in order to clean the lake. At present, the heads of the municipal subdivisions evaluate this proposal on the spot. A detailed research is necessary in order to avoid the flooding of certain zones whilst evacuating the water as far as the river bed of Bac, the deputy mayor of Chisinau, Veaceslav Iordan says. Evacuation of the water from the lake is planned for the beginning of October and could last for about two months. The municipal services must solve the problem of water leakage in the lake from the neighbor district, where a system of fluvial water evacuation does not exist. According to Iordan, in the near future, the municipality will organize a contest in order to decide upon who evacuates the mud. At present it was not decided where will the mud be deposited. According to the deputy-mayor, there could be about 1 mln cubic meters of mud. Municipal authorities plan to finish the works during one year. A special meeting with the heads of the municipal subdivisions, within which the issue of Valea Morilor will be discussed, is planned for Thursday at the City Hall. The last time when Valea Morilor Lake was cleaned happened 14 years ago. Municipal authorities were very concerned about this problem, after on Friday, September 22, the president Vladimir Voronin convoked a meeting with the participation of responsible persons from the Government and City Hall on the issue of “laying out the Valea Morilor Park”. The president pleaded in favor of a general and complex reconstruction of the park, renewing all the objects within its frameworks. The date of the meeting organized at the Presidency coincided with the publishing in the “Official Monitor of the Republic of Moldova” of a Governmental decision on declaring a part of the aforementioned park’s territory as exclusive property of the state. Nearby the Valea Morilor Lake, the most exclusive district of Chisinau was constructed. Many politicians, high officials and successful businessmen are living there.
