A waste dump situated between Ciorescu and Cricova communes of Chisinau municipality started to burn in the afternoon of April 4. Contacted by IPN, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcan said the fire covered an area of about 300 square meters.
There was dense smoke in the area given that large quantities of plastic objects were taken to the waste dump. Firemen extinguished the fire and there is now no danger of spreading.
No person was hurt. The police are to find out the cause of fire. Arson is not excluded.
