Waste disposal charges to rise in southern Moldova

Effective 1 January 2008, the charges for the services provided by the housing management agency in Cahul will rise, Univers FM radio reports, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The monthly charge for the disposal of a cubic metre of domestic waste for the residents of apartment blocks will be 6 lei, and for home owners 11.2 lei. Entities will pay 116.76 lei, VAT excluded. For residual waste, physical persons will pay 120 lei/m3, and entities 275.95 lei/m3. The modifications will be done on the basis of the Cahul City Council’s decision of December 6. The residents of Cahul pay more for waste disposal from December 1. The decision adopted on November 27 by the Cahul City Council doubles the quotas for household waste. Thus, indirectly, the price paid by the households for waste disposal has also risen – from 2.8 lei to 5.6 lei for the residents of apartment blocks, and from 5.8 lei to 11.2 lei for home owners.
