Waste collected by Hai, Moldova! volunteers will be recycled

Thousands of volunteers joined the Hai, Moldova! project. The waste collected on May 12 will be transported to authorized landfills and a part will be recycled by a specialized company. Anastasia Pociumban, the project's human resources coordinator, told Info-Prim Neo that for the first time in Moldova used mobile phones would be recycled in partnership with a mobile company. All those who drop their phones in special boxes will get a present. The volunteers cleaned 15 areas in Chisinau, including the parks Rascani, Valea Morilor, Valea Trandafirilor, La Izvor and others. Officials, including high-ranking, EU Head of Delegation Dirk Schuebel and UN Resident Coordinator Kaarina Immonen, as well as several local stars, joined the volunteers. Last year, 7,000 tonnes of waste was collected. This year’s target is 10,000 tonnes.
