Warning against travelling to Hungary

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova warns the Moldovans against travelling to Hungary following the recent heavy rain. The Hungarian authorities declared a state of emergency after the level of water in the Danube River increased significantly. The people living near the river were evacuated, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Ministry, the water in the Danube is projected to reach the highest level on June 5. The situation is expected to worsen on June 8 – 9. The Moldovan people and carriers are urged to avoid travelling to Hungary and crossing this country.

The Moldovans who are in difficulty on the territory of Hungary can seek help from the Embassy of Moldova in Budapest and from the Ministry’s General Consular Affairs Division.
