The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration issued a warning against travelling to/through Greece in connection with the protests mounted by local farmers starting with February 9, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry, the Greek farmers blocked public roads and highways, including those connected to border crossing points/customs posts of Greece, for an indefinite period. These include the border crossing point “Valea Tempi” in Larissa region, on the Athens-Salonic road. The customs post “Vama Kipi”, on the border with the Republic of Turkey, and the border crossing point “Promachonas”, on the border with Bulgaria, were also closed.

It is recommended avoiding non-urgent trips to Athens and its environs given the expected large-scale protests that can be mounted in the Greek capital during an indefinite period of time.
