Meteorologists forecast temperatures of up to +8 - +9 degrees Celsius for the night between years. Also, there will be no precipitation on New Year’s Eve.
Contacted by IPN for details, the head of the Meteorological Forecasts Department of the State Weather Service Gennady Rosca said the temperatures on December 31 will be quite high for this period, of up to +11 degrees Celsius. Similar temperatures are forecast for January 1. On the night of January 2, temperatures will rise to +5 degrees Celsius.
Gennady Rosca noted that on New Year’s Eve last year, air temperatures were also high and there was no snowfall. “We had highs of up to +15 degrees Celsius in Chisinau and even of up to +17 degrees Celsius elsewhere in the country. Such temperatures are averagely recorded once in 20-30 years,” he stated.
The last snowy New Year’s Eve was at the end of 2021. Then the layer of snow was of about 11 centimeters.
