Warehouse burns down in Balti

A warehouse in Balti was engulfed in flames in the middle of the night. According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the call to the 112 Service was made at 01:25 a.m. The firefighters who rushed to the scene determined that an area of over 900 square meters of the warehouse was covered by fire, IPN reports.

A number of rescue crews were mobilized. Firefighters needed to form several intervention sectors to locate and extinguish the fire. In total, 64 rescuers and firefighters with 14 fire trucks struggled to contain the blaze.

The fire affected metal equipment and goods inside the warehouse.

Mayor of Balti Alexandr Petkov provided details, saying that according to preliminary information, the fire affected an area of no less than 2,000 square meters. “Thanks to the prompt intervention of firefighters, it was possible to avoid human victims. The causes of fire are to be found out,” stated the mayor.

Firefighters managed to locate the fire shortly after 06:00 a.m. this morning. The rescue crews continue washing and dismantling works in the affected buildings.
