War veterans from several localities call their comrades to unity, despite the geopolitical events and challenges facing the Republic of Moldova. To honour the memory of those who fought for the independence and sovereignty of the country, but also to reflect on the value of peace and national solidarity, the War Veterans for Nation and Country Force, together with other veterans' organizations, invites to a march of memory, gratitude and peace, scheduled for March 2.

The event will start at 10:00 in the Great National Assembly Square with the laying of flowers at the monument of Stephen the Great and will continue with a solemn march. The column will head to the Eternity Memorial Complex, Nisporeni war veteran Vladimir Buga told a press conference at IPN.

"With this action we want to reaffirm the importance of strengthening and unifying our society, promoting dialog, mutual respect and social cohesion. We urge you to come and join us, to honor our heroes and send a strong message of unity and peace", Vladimir Buga said.

War veteran Andrei Eremia, vice-president of the Movement "War Veterans' Force for Nation and Country", said that it is currently very difficult for people in the country, including war veterans, to have full clarity on the way forward, as on the one hand there is "a hybrid war in the country brought by the Russian state", but on the other hand there are "some intruders" who manipulate with various information.

"Now, as never before, we need to be united, to show maturity, because we, especially the veterans of the 1991-1992 war, are the ones who also know the price of peace, because we were at the foundation of the formation of the Republic of Moldova, and we are even obliged to be patriots of this country", Andrei Eremia said.

The veteran from Cahul, Alexandru Andronic, emphasized that many citizens from the left bank of the Dniester cross the "so-called phantom border" for treatment, work, which shows that "in reality there is no gulf between us, but only a border that someone imposes on us". "Through unity we will achieve results," the veteran added.

Another war veteran, Ion Procopciuc, was of the opinion that Moldova's reintegration must be carried out peacefully, coming out with a request to the government to take all possible measures "to prevent Russia from playing" in the state. "We are worried that Russia, through its secret services, some politicians and influential people, is promoting its actions to instigate the population against the Transnistrian region for forced confrontation," the Balti veteran reported.

Veniamin Costesanu, a war veteran from Chisinau, also noted the complexity of the situation Moldova is currently going through. "The pro-Russian forces, taking advantage of the war in Ukraine, are trying to organize various destabilizations in order to return to power and undermine the European course of the country. That is why we, as war veterans, call on the country's leadership to intervene in the national consolidation and territorial defense of the Republic of Moldova," said Veniamin Costesanu

"We address the entire civil society of our country, the Republic of Moldova, in order to clarify and see with open eyes the complexity and responsibility that falls to us, those of us who live, go through and feel this segment of time today, which is so complex and unpredictable that in 24 hours the vector of certain situations can change in several directions", said journalist Nicolae Boiesteanu, a war veteran from Cantemir.

The war veteran from Chisinau, Victor Buliga, confirmed that the representatives of the associations of war veterans for the defense of Moldova's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity are concerned about "the eminent danger in ensuring the maintenance of the rule of law, combating crimes against Moldova's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity".

Referring to the law on war veterans, Ion Boiros, a veteran from Nisporeni, said that it comes to "bring to the world's attention" the fighters who have sacrificed their lives so that this country could be independent, have a safe and free path to the European community.
