Veterans of the war for Moldova’s independence and integrity and of the Afghanistan war announce their support for the candidate of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu. In a news conference at IPN, these made public a statement where these say that during her short political career, Maia Sandu showed integrity, verticality, perseverance, professionalism and correctness in her actions.

The veterans said the November 13 runoff elections are of crucial importance for Moldova’s destiny. “We have two options and must make a correct choice. We either support the Socialist-Communist with oligarchic manners Igor Dodon, who intends to denounce the Association Agreement with the EU and to sign an accord with the inexistent Eurasian Customs Union, or we unconditionally support Maia Sandu, who can be the last hope for building a prosperous, democratic future free from corruption and oligarchy,” Gheorghe Slutu, executive director of the National Union of Independence War Veterans said, reading the statement.

Head of the Chisinau Union of War Veterans Mihai Tomachinski said the country is now in a crucial moment when the people must defend their history with dignity and must take a correct decision so as to be proud of the country.

Police Lieutenant-Colonel Chiril Motpan, one of the leaders of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”, said the decision that everyone will take will influence the internal situation. “We will decide if we, during four years, will back a supporter of the oligarchic clans, who is in Plahotniuc’s pocket and in Parliament every time voted how it was suitable for the main oligarch and puppeteer, or will support someone who waged an open war on those who captured our state,” he said.

In the same news conference, ex-Minister of Defense Vitalie Marinuta called on the young people to contribute to the further development of this state. According to him, it’s now time for the people, especially the young ones, to say a firm ‘yes’ for a better future and a firm ‘no’ to the red, a ‘yes’ to the European and prosperous future and a ‘yes’ in favor of Maia Sandu.

Constantin Boistean, another member of the National Union of War Veterans, said the veterans must be an example for the young generations because they are those who fought for the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova. The veterans called on the people to make a correct chose and vote for Maia Sandu. They are sure that the joint candidate, if she is elected President, will do her best for Moldova to become a really developed democratic state, to be accepted into the big European family and to improve the relations, including with the Russian Federation and other post-Soviet states.
