Voting intentions one month before elections

If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, 40.5% of the Moldovans would vote for the Party of Socialists in the national constituency, 15.9% for the Democratic Party, 15.7% for the electoral bloc ACUM DA PAS and 3.6% for the Shor Party, shows an opinion poll presented by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova on January 29, IPN reports.

The poll reveals that if legislative elections were held next Sunday, 55% of the respondents would definitely go to vote, 27% would probably vote and 7% would probably not vote. 5% of those polled are sure they will not go to vote and as many haven’t yet decided.

As to the vote in single-member constituencies, 53% of those surveyed said they chose the suitable candidate, 38% do not know who to vote for, while 9% will not vote in the elections.

Only each tenth surveyed person considers the elections in Moldova are free and fair. 47.4% do not share this conviction, while 36% consider the elections are partially free and fair. 7% could not state their opinion on the issue.

Asked to name a political personality they trust most, 49.7% of the respondents said they trust Igor Dodon, 10.2% Pavel Filip, 7.6% Maia Sandu. 24% said they trust no one, while 11% haven’t formed an opinion yet.

The poll was carried out in 81 localities, except for the Transnistrian region, during January 4 – 19, 2019 and covered a sample of 1,179 respondents. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3%.
