Two mobile teams of the Center for Continuous Electoral Training working under the Central Election Commission travel to settlements of the country to inform the voters about the particularities of the local elections and the voting procedure.

The trips are made to 25 settlements between June 3 and 12. Contacted by phone by IPN, Victor Pruteanu, methodologist and trainer at the Center, said that the two mobile teams stop in the most crowded places and have discussions with locals. They also stage a contest where they challenge the people to test their electoral knowledge, especially as regards the local elections.

The people are asked about the number of ballots with which they will vote in elections, about the procedure and the age from which a person can run for the mayoralty, etc. Everyone receives informative materials, while the most active ones also get symbolic presents.

The contests held so far involved over 1,000 persons. Victor Pruteanu said he was surprised to see some of the contestants answering all the questions. These even explained the voting procedures in specific situations. However, some of the particularities of elections are not yet known.

“We pursued the goal of informing the people about the particularities. Some people didn’t know with how many ballots they will vote. Now they know it. The aim of the campaign is to inform the people. Through the informative materials we distribute, we urge the people to take part in elections,” stated Victor Pruteanu.

Since June 3 until now, the Center’s mobile teams have travelled to Cahul, Cantemir, Taraclia, Comrat, Stefan Voda, Cimislia, Edinet, Ocnita, Anenii Noi, Ialoveni, Rezina, Soldanesti, Balti, Soroca, and Floresti. Another two buses went to Sangerei and Falesti on June 9.
