According to preliminary CEC data, the voter turnout in the November 28 elections was 59.15%, with 1,628,038 voters participating, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The most active voters were in Basarabeasca district (73%) and the most passive in the Gagauz Autonomy (52.16%). In Chisinau the voter turnout was 64.92% and in Balti 58.7%.
At four polling stations, in Roma, Paris, Padova and Bologna, the working hours will be extended by 2 hours due to the big number of people willing to vote. This is also the reason why these polling stations ran out of ballot papers. Still the voters are allowed to vote, using A4 sheets of paper instead of ballots, which are validated with the stamp of the respective polling stations. The Constitutional Court is to decide whether to count these votes or not.
