Roughly 50.5 percent of the eligible Moldovan voters participated in the parliamentary elections by 7:00 PM, thus clearing the 50 percent mark needed for the elections to be deemed valid, Info-Prim Neo reports. The voters in the district of Basarabeasca remain in the lead in terms of turnout, with a rate of 73 percent, followed by Dubasari with 62 percent. In Chisinau the figure stood at over 50 percent. Balti remains the least active electoral area, with a turnout of 43 percent. In most districts the voter turnout was slightly over 50 percent. In overseas polling places set up at Moldovan embassies and consulates in 33 countries, the overall turnout was 73 percent.
