Voter turnout in Comrat was 20.2% at 12:30pm

The voter turnout in Comrat municipality at 12:30 was 20.22%, in contrast to 22% in the first round of the local elections. In Comrat, the race for the mayoralty involves independent candidate Nicolai Dudoglo and the candidate of “Our Party” Sergey Anastasov. 

After casting his ballot, Nicolai Dudoglo said that he voted for the further development of Comrat town so that it becomes one of the most beautiful towns in Moldova, for the future of Comrat and the whole Gagauzia.

His opponent Serghei Anastasov said he voted for the town’s future and for the changes that will take place in Comrat. “I call on everyone to mark their ballots as this is the most responsible day when we must choose the suitable administration for the next four years,” he stated.

Comrat District Electoral Council deputy head Oxana Nedealco has told IPN that two complaints were submitted by representatives of an election runner by noon. These complained that the heads of particular polling places didn’t allow them to photograph the voter rolls. Oxana Nedealco explained that the representatives have the right to see the lists, not yet to photograph them, but the Council will nevertheless hold a meeting to discuss the complaints.

In the first round of voting, Gagauzia was the constituency with the lowest voter turnout – 43.8%. According to the Central Election Commission, the voter turnout in the region was 18.8% at 12:30pm.
