In the first two hours after the opening of polling stations, almost 147,000 electors exercised their right to vote, the turnout being 5.37%. The citizens are more active in the runoff vote compared to the October 20 election, when more than 97,000 voters (3.57%) voted by 09:00 a.m., IPN reports.
The Central Election Commission said that the women were slightly more active in the morning, the ratio of women to men at country level being 50.10%:49.90%.
According to age criteria, the percentage of voters looks like this:
In Chisinau municipality, more than 32,000 citizens have voted so far – 5.01%. In Balti municipality, over 4,400 voters went to the polls (4.56%), and in Cahul municipality - 4,250 voters marked their ballot (4.42%). In ATU Gagauzia, the turnout is 4.36% (5,480 voters).
The basic voter rolls include more than 2.7 million electors. In the runoff vote, the ballot will be declared valid if at least one fifth (1/5) of the persons put on voter rolls participates in it.
