The total number of voters recorded in the State Voter Registry is 3,285,894 persons. Out of the total number, 2 818 228 citizens with voting rights are assigned to second level administrative-territorial units, the Central Election Commission said in a press release.
According to the CEC, the difference includes persons who are citizens of Moldova, but do not have a home or residence registration, persons who have legally emigrated abroad and citizens with the right to vote who are registered in administrative-territorial units on the left bank of the Nistru. Left bank administrative-territorial units are temporarily outside the sovereign control of the constitutional authorities of the Republic of Moldova.
According to a CEC decision issued on August 22, 36 second level electoral districts will be created for the local general elections which will be held on October 20.
