The Central Election Commission on December 18 announced the results of the recount of the votes cast in the November 28 early legislative elections. The PCRM won another 308 votes, while the PLDM, PDM and PL lost 112, 227 and, respectively, 98 votes, Info-Prim Neo reports.
CEC secretary Iurie Ciocan said that a shocking case was reported in Rublenita village of Soroca district. The sacks with ballots were mixed up. As a result, the voting results at the polling station there were compromised. Iurie Ciocan stated that the district Prosecutor’s Office was informed about this case. An investigation is under way.
In Falesti, the PCRM obtained 20 votes more after the recount, the PLDM won another 15 votes, the PDM lost 46 votes, while the PL gained 2 votes more. In Chisinau, the number of votes for the PCRM fell by 36, while for the PL – by 13. Instead, the PLDM and PDM won 4 and 19 votes more.
The turnout of voters was 63.37%.
The vote recount results do not affect the distribution of seats. The PCRM will hold 42 seats, the PLDM – 32, the PDM –15, while the PL –12.
The vote recount was ordered by the Constitutional Court following an application filed by the PCRM, which claimed that the voting reports contained mistakes. The procedure cost over 13 million lei.
