Saturday’s visit to Moscow by President Vladimir Voronin shows his despair as the PCRM’s popular approval rating in surveys has decreased, the European Action Movement (MAE) says in a communiqué, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. ”The Communist leader’s visit to Moscow shows once again that though they speak about integration into the European Union, the Communists make everything possible to hinder this process,” the MAE says. ”We draw attention that Moldova’s course should be for Brussels, not Moscow,” the party says, stressing yet that the relations with Russia are also important for Moldova’s economic development. “We consider that the integration into the EU is a desideratum wanted by all the country’s people, no matter what language they speak. The Russian community in Moldova, together with the other residents of Moldova, has the chance to integrate into an advanced economic system that brings prosperity, freedom and access to a developed labor market,” it is said in the communiqué. In this connection, the MAE calls upon all the Moldovan people not to stay at home on July 29, but go to the polls and vote “for the forces that can help Moldova become part of Europe, so as to limit the electoral violations and abuses typical of the ruling party that keeps us in darkness and poverty.” “Going to the polls on July 29 will be an act of patriotism in the current conditions,” the MAE says. The European Action Movement has announced that it will withdraw from the electoral race towards the end of the campaign and will throw its support to the parliamentary Opposition.
