Communist leader Vladimir Voronin's letter to acting President Marian Lupu aims to push Moldovan society towards early elections and is yet another move seeking to further tense the situation in Moldova, the President's Office replied in a press statement, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “In content, the letter repeats the already known position of the Communist Party, which undermines the functioning of the government with the intent to push society towards a new round of early elections. News-wise, the missive of the Communist leader has no value, thus a reaction on its essence is pointless”. Concerning the demand to dissolve Parliament, the President's Office has noted that this can take place exclusively in a certain political reality and in conditions that are strictly determined by the constitutional and legal norms. It further states that Marian Lupu has more than once invited the opposition to “cooperate normally” with the government and contribute to the resolution of essential problems faced by the state and the citizens. “This good intention still stands, provided that the Communist Party is able to lose its propaganda approach and renounce its objective of destabilizing Moldovan society”. In his letter to Marian Lupu, Vladimir Voronin demanded in particular that he dissolve Parliament. “The lack of an appropriate perception of the situation on the part of the ruling alliance and the continuation of the attempts to preserve the current government undoubtedly represent one of the most serious crimes committed before the people – usurpation of power. The key to normalizing the political situation and the instrument for partially expiating your blame for the created situation is in your hands”, wrote Voronin.
