Voronin to meet with Medvedev in Sochi tomorrow

The departing president of Moldova Vladimir Voronin will have a meeting with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in Sochi on Friday, the presidential press service informed without specifying the aim and program of the visit. “We wish him good luck. He solved many problems faced by this country with Medvedev,” the AMN leader Serafim Urecheanu said ironically, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “I think that any trip or meeting can be beneficial if concrete objectives are set – to overcome the political crisis in Moldova and to use all the levers and instruments possible to overcome the negative effects of the economic crisis,” said the president of the PDM Marian Lupu. “If Mister Voronin considers that the political crisis can be solved in Moscow or in Sochi, he is wrong. I hope that this visit’s aim is to discuss problems that are to be fixed as part of the bilateral relations,” the Liberal-Democratic leader Vlad Filat said. The PL president Mihai Ghimpu said smiling: “Maybe Voronin will remain there as he more often travels now to Russia.” The leaders of the Alliance for European Integration announced that they plan to initiate the dialogue with the PCRM on Friday. The coalition needs eight more votes to elect the head of state.
