Communist leader Vladimir Voronin says Marian Lupu is naive to believe that he will become president with Mihai Ghimpu’s help. After walking out today from Parliament together wit his faction, Vladimir Voronin said he became convinced he couldn’t trust the Democrats anymore.
The Communist faction walked out from the assembly hall of the legislative after their proposal to oust Speaker and concurrently acting President Mihai Ghimpu didn’t gather enough votes to be included in the order of the day.
The Communist leader stressed that another reason for their return to Parliament was to find out how the Democrats would act. “The Democratic Part puzzled the voters and even us with their inconsistent decisions. We thought Lupu understood what was going on in the country governed by Ghimpu. We expected he would look for common solutions with us, but we understood that the Democratic Party became a rightist party which didn’t care about the voters and concerned itself only with its interests”, declared Vladimir Voronin.
Democrat leader Marian Lupu argued the dismissal of the speaker would lead to chaos in the country.
Parliament assembled on Wednesday, June 30, for an extraordinary meeting to consider budget amendments. The Communists interrupted their seventeen-month boycott in an attempt to oust Mihai Ghimpu.
