The chairman of the Party of Communists (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin would accept the post of President of the Republic of Moldova on particular conditions and is ready to form a coalition in Parliament with parties of the center left. Such statements were made by the Communist leader in the program “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
“I will accept the post of head of state, if it’s offered to me, only if I’m satisfied with the proposed conditions. But I doubt that they will come to me with such a proposal. If early legislative elections are held and in case of presidential elections, we could cooperate with the Democratic Party. We must focus more on the people’s problems and less on posts,” stated the leader of the PCRM.
Vladimir Voronin pleaded for early elections, saying he is ready to form a parliamentary coalition with the parties of the left so as to remove the current government. “I’m for early elections, but on particular conditions. First of all, the heads of a number of institutions, such as the president of the Central Election Commission and the prosecutor general, should be dismissed so as to exclude vote rigging,” he said.
Asked why he voted for the Gaburici Government together with the Democratic Party and the Liberal Democratic Party, the Communist leader said he did it for two reasons. “Firstly, I voted in order to exclude the nationalist Mihai Ghimpu from government. Secondly, they promised that we would manage the Audit Office and the Central Election Commission, but didn’t keep their word. The Gaburici Government was a professional one, but failed because it wasn’t supported in Parliament. We didn’t want to vote their bills. The Liberals also refused to vote because they weren’t admitted to power,” he stated.
