Communists’ Party will use all the legal actions to fight Alliance for European Integration’s violations, including massive protests. The statement was made by party’s leader Vladimir Voronin during a press conference on Monday, June 28. “We don't fight for the hammer and sickle, we fight for Moldova”, the former president stated. He also congratulated the journalist on the occasion of Basarabia’s liberation from bourgeois Romania’s domination.
“The Alliance fled shamefully”, that’s how Voronin described AEI’s decision to cancel Parliament’s special meeting supposed to commemorate 70 years since the Soviet occupation. During the assembly, the report of the Commission for researching the communist totalitarian regime in Moldova should have been heard.
The former head of the state is sure the other AEI leaders knew about the decree regarding the Soviet Occupation Day on June 28, but avoided to bear responsibility and let Ghimpu answer for it alone.
“We attacked this decree at the Constitutional Court on Friday and we’ll fight till the end”, he stated. Voronin insists Ghimpu should consult a psychiatrist and tell the people about his mental state.
Vladimir Voronin added that it was not AEI leaders that ruled the Alliance, but external forces. He is confident that the decree was coordinated with Romanian President Traian Basescu, who had issued some statements about the Russian troops in the Transnistrian region and sent agents to the Government and Presidency. “We see that the coup d’etat started last year on April 7 continues through other ways”, he said.
Voronin criticized international institutions as well. “Where’s now Madam Durrieu (Josette Durrieu- Council of Europe’s rapporteur in Moldova)? For 8 years, she told us what’s good and democratic”, he asked.
Communists’ leader said his party would decide to participate in Parliament’s meeting depending on the program. The Communist faction has been boycotting meetings since March 9, 2010, asking the Parliament to be dissolved and early elections to be announced.
