Outgoing president Vladimir Voronin and former chairman of the Chisinau Municipal Council and former secretary of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Eduard Musuc on May 1 smiled at each other, shook hands and even held each other. Delivering speeches on the Labor Day, they committed themselves to working hard to solve all the problems faced by the society, Info-Prim Neo reports. Asked by the reporters since when he has been so warm with Voronin, Musuc said that from today. “Until now, our relation was a relation between the chairman of a local legislative body and of the head of state. Now, we have working relationship,” Musuc said. “We will see, will think over,” he answered when asked if he would join the Communist Party headed by Voronin. “In the near future, we, those that left the PSD, will take a decision about our future steps. It must be a responsible decision as it decides the fate of thousands of colleagues of mine,” Eduard Musuc said. Musuc announced he left the PSD on April 15, one week after excluded from the party by the vote of the majority members of the party’s Political Bureau for “actions against the interests of the PSD and work in favor of another election contender during the election campaign”. His example was followed by other members that were disappointed by the administration of the PSD and by the party’s proposal to concede Transnistria to Russia for 30 years. The PSD, headed by Dumitru Braghis, described the departure of about 200 members from the party as “cleaning and purification of the party with minimum impact”.
