The road patrols working in Chisinau will be helped by volunteers during rush hours. The proposal was submitted by the Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca at Tuesday’s meeting of the City Hall. The mayor hopes that in such a way a part of the traffic related problems in the capital city, which are more serious now as the new school year began, will be solved. Dorin Chirtoaca said that there are enough parking spaces on Puskin and Banulescu-Bodoni streets, within the perimeter of 31 August and Cosmonautilor streets, but the drivers continue to park on the pavements. The mayor also said that on August 27 the police worked efficiently and this shows that the road patrols can be mobilized. Ion Vosian, head of the municipal Traffic Police, says that luminescent coats must be sewed and special permits created for the volunteers that want to help the traffic police. Speaking about the parking on pavements, Vosian said that the police cannot do much if the drivers are absent. The mayor stressed the opportunity of submitting a proposal to work out a sanctioning mechanism in their absence to the Parliament.
