Volume of industrial production rose 0.7% in 2008

Industrial companies from Moldova produced goods worth 29,654.6 million lei in 2008, 0,7% more than in 2007, in comparable prices. In December 2008, the volume of industrial output dropped 4.5% compared to December 2007, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the Statistics National Bureau.
The increase has been possible due to companies making food and drinks (+10.4%), which have a ratio of 43.1% in the total output. The increase was realized due to growths in the following sectors: wine – 26%; sugar – 1.8 times; dairy -- 6%; bread and pastry – 7.1%, etc.
At the same time, output decreases were recorded in the following sectors: manufacturing clothes – 14.9%; paper – 29.3%; beer – cu 18.7%; tobacco products – 15.8%; textiles – 8.8% etc.
The Bureau's data do not refer to companies in Transnistria.
