The humanitarian assistance that came to Moldova in the second quarter of this year amounted to about 34 million lei, by 1 million lei less compared with the corresponding period last year. In a meeting of the interdepartmental commission for humanitarian assistance, the head of the Labor Ministry’s Humanitarian Aid Division Mihai Malic said that such a figure is not worrying as the assessment is relative and there are batches of humanitarian aid that one time cost dear, while another time are cheaper, IPN reports.
Of the humanitarian aid provided to Moldova, the building materials, domestic appliances and accessories represent 40.6%, medicines and medical devices – 33.8%, furniture – 10.9%, clothing items – 9.7%, food products – 3.8%, while footwear - 1.2%.
Mihai Malic said the humanitarian aid provided to Moldova this year came from 23 donor countries. The largest volumes were offered by Germany, Switzerland, South Korea, the Netherlands, Romania, the U.S., and Ukraine.
The donations made in the period were distributed to 84 organizations and institutions. The largest quantities were received and distributed by the National Public Health Center, the Criuleni District Hospital, and the Ialoveni District Council.
