The volume of water that is to be distributed among the consumers in Chisinau will be decreased, the director of SA Apa-Canal Chisinau Constantin Becciev said in a meeting at the City Hall, Info-Prim Neo reports. Constantin Becciev stated that last week the company’s employees inventoried over 3,000 apartment buildings, but almost half of the dwellers either weren’t at home or did not open the door. “It is very important to enter the other 50% of the apartments. For sure, those who will not open the door will automatically become payers of the water losses,” he said. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said it is a serious violation of the legislation when the consumers do not open the door to the employees of the public utilities. These persons will be obliged to pay the difference in the volume of consumed water, even if the water meters in the apartments meet the technical requirements. He demanded that a meeting be called with the housing stock managers to explain to them how they should act in all the possible situations. According to IM Infocom, in order to compensate for the losses of water, the owners of over 10 apartments will pay additionally 4.6 lei a month on average, while another 36,000 families – 9.19 lei.
