“Voievodul Mircea cel Batran” monument to be erected in Ciocana district in Chisinau

Chisinau Municipal Council accepted on Tuesday December 19 to erect the monument “Voievodul Mircea cel Batran” in Ciocana district of the capital. Municipal councillors have allocated about 270,000 lei for the design works, but not also 3.5 mln lei for refitting the plateau where the monument is to be erected and cultural manifestation to be held in Ciocana district. According to preliminary estimations, the expenses for building the monument amount to 22 mln lei. Head of district Ion Gabura told the meeting of the Municipal Council that the monument will be made in Sankt Petersburg, taking into account the most advantageous offer concerning costs. As Gabura states, expenses for this project are expected to be covered by municipal budget, NGOs and businessmen. Earlier in 2007, there will be opened an extra budgetary account for a half-year period on which sources for erecting the monument will be accumulated.
