Irina Vlah, the leader of the new party "Heart of Moldova", draws embassies’ attention to the disinformation triggered after her initiative to organize a referendum on the issue of neutrality. Vlah pointed to this in an open letter addressed to international organizations and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
The politician says that after she presented her initiative to hold a plebiscite on neutrality, "analysts and opinion makers, who do not hide their political affiliation, have given verdicts that do not correspond to reality, and public opinion is intentionally misled." Irina Vlah promises the embassies that she will provide them with "information about the actions taken to combat disinformation and falsehoods".
In her approach, the leader of the "Heart of Moldova" party says that she pleads for the organization of a referendum simultaneously with the parliamentary elections. Irina Vlah explains that "the status of neutrality is periodically questioned by some of the officials, who suggest that Moldova should renounce neutrality and join a military alliance, and such approaches endanger peace in the country."
Vlah regards the referendum as a way to put an end to controversies. The results of the plebiscite would allow taking international steps for the Republic of Moldova to be recognized as neutral, and this means "a step forward in solving the problem of territorial integrity", Irina Vlah says in the open letter addressed to representatives of international organizations and embassies working in Chisinau.
Last week, Irina Vlah, who heads the "Heart of Moldova" party, called on the Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu to start the necessary procedures for organizing a referendum on neutrality concurrently with next year’s parliamentary elections.
