Expert Vladislav Kulminski said the active involvement of President Igor Dodon in all the areas of activity and his actions are aimed at securing support for this autumn’s presidential elections. As a result of the situation generated by the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, polls show an evident decline in the President’s popular approval rating, IPN reports.
“There is panic inside President Igor Dodon’s team. Today it is very clear, and polls confirm this, that it will be very hard for him to win the direct election of the President by the people or he could lose the presidential elections as his rating has declined considerably. He is now making every effort to stop this decline,” Vladislav Kulminski stated in the program “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.
Vladislav Kulminski noted the authorities “are playing politics” and many of their actions are not in people’s interests and are aimed at securing a new term in office as President.
“What they do at present is aimed at ensuring the reelection of Igor Dodon as President. However, given that the people’s confidence in him declines considerably, it is very hard to achieve this,” added the expert.
Lawyer Stefan Gligor said President Igor Dodon does not miss any chance to gain political advantages given the upcoming elections.
“Nicolae Furtună (director of the National Public Health Agency – e.n.) was obliged to say that only 29 doctors infected with COVID-19 of the 450 will get by 16,000 lei in support from the state. When a wave of dissatisfaction with this decision arose in society, as this is discrimination and evident humiliation of the doctors who became infected at the workplace, Igor Dodon decided to use this situation to appear as a politician, a President who does justice. It is evident that Igor Dodon is campaigning. It is a problem related to his rating that he cannot improve,” stated Stefan Gligor.
