Moldovan medal hope Vladislav Arventi missed out on a place on the podium in the 63kg taekwondo competition at the Youth Olympic Games after losing to Mario Silva of Portugal in the semi-finals, 5-3, Info-Prim Neo. Arventi, who will turn 17 on Thursday, qualified for the Youth Olympics thanks to a wild-card awarded by the International Federation. He was selected to be Moldova's flag-bearer at the opening ceremony in Singapore. Another Moldovan representative, Eugenia Tanasienco placed but 22nd out of 30 in the women's 100m breaststroke competition. Tomorrow, August 18, athletes Doina Cravcenco and Evghenii Glusco, and archer Alexandra Mirca will enter the competition. Yesterday wrestler Iulia Leorda won the first, silver medal for Moldova at the Youth Olympic Games.
