Moldova’s President Vladimir Voronin and his wife Taisia Voronin voted at the polling station opened at Antioh Cantemir High School in Chisinau at about 10.00. Vladimir Voronin told the reporters that he voted for the country’s development and for the wellbeing of the Moldovan people. “After the elections, we will further develop the country so as to build a European Moldova,” the head of state said. Vladimir Voronin also said that he is in favor of stronger bilateral relations with the CIS and European countries, Info-Prim Neo reports. Asked what he will do after his term in office expires, Voronin said he would continue to work for the country and the people. “I am president of the party (the Communist Party – e.n.). It only depends on the election results whether we head a majority group in the Parliament or not.” Vladimir Voronin also said that more parties should pass the election threshold. “It is better when there are more parties as you need allies to form a coalition. I cannot say with whom we are ready to form a coalition because we don’t know the election outcome. There might be even no coalition.” During the 2005 legislative elections, Vladimir Voronin did not stop to talk to the press. Asked by the journalists about his mood while he was leaving, he answered in Russian that he was calm and untroubled. Asked what he voted for, the head of state said, also in Russian, he voted for the prosperity of Moldova and the Moldovan people. After the president voted, his bodyguards closed the door of the poling station and did not allow the mass media representatives to go out until his car departed, the municipal agency Info-Prim reported then.
