The 14 Communist MPs who left the party and joined the so-called Social-Democratic Platform initiated by the Democratic Party betrayed not the party, but rather their voters, the leader of the Party of Communists Vladimir Voronin said in the program “Forth power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.

“How can one betray the party that brought you up and educated you? Maybe this is good for the party as we will clean it up this way. But the biggest crime committed by these 14 is that they destroyed the political ratio that was created by the voters in the November 30, 2014 elections,” said the Communists’ leader.

Vladimir Voronin noted that to avoid cases of political corruption, the legislation should be amended. “Those who leave the party should be deprived of the seat as the seat should belong to the party, not the person. The parties struggle for seats of MP in the election campaign. If such a provision had existed, we wouldn’t have witnessed that defection,” he stated.

Vladimir Voronin added that the PCRM anyway wouldn’t have voted for the candidates proposed for premiership, including Vlad Plahotniuc. “We voted only for Gaburici and did it only because we wanted Mihai Ghimpu to be removed from government,” he said.

The Communists’ leader noted that he disapproves of the antigovernment protests. “These protests are senseless. A parliamentary alliance was formed and the Government was installed. They only confuse the people. Why are these people taken out to protest? What for?,” he asked.
