The Party of Communists, the Party of Socialists and the Democratic Party have together 64 seats in Parliament. Such a coalition could invest a new Government and then elect a new head of state in several months, considers the Communists’ leader Vladimir Voronin. In the program “Friday with Anatolie Golea” on RTR Moldova channel, the politician said that a center-left coalition of the parliamentary groups of the three parties could be formed, IPN reports.

The leader of the Party of Communists said it is not right to divide the power according to political principles. “A social explosion is expected in Moldova. The people will take to the streets to save themselves and their families. It will be an uncontrolled uprising as the population reached the lowest poverty level. It’s not normal for the country to remain without the executive now that the winter is close. It’s now very hard to find solutions to the current political crisis and for electing the head of state in several months so that we do not face a new crisis then. A center-left coalition of the Communists, Democrats and Socialists would have 64 votes,” stated Vladimir Voronin.

He believes that the early parliamentary elections will not change much the state of affairs in the country. “If we had solved a number of problems faced in the electoral sector, these elections could have produced results. When I called the Socialists traitors, I referred to their betrayal of the Party of Communists. As regards Moldova, I would call traitor no one. We must do something for the country and cannot think only about the party now,” said the politician.

Vladimir Voronin noted that the term of pro-European government is no longer topical especially after former European Commissioner Stefan Fule said the politicians should form a pro-Moldova government that would aim to ensure the European modernization of the country. “They hurried to sign the Association Agreement. This is a document with narrow effect, while modernization has a broad meaning. If a normal, honest executive is formed, we will be able to formulate proposals for amending the Association Agreement. We didn’t need this accord for another 25 years. In 2008, we obtained the autonomous trade preferences with the EU and could have developed the country based on this trade regime,” he stated.

Vladimir Voronin suggested avoiding discussions on the formation of a parliamentary majority with the Liberal Party and with what’s left of the Liberal Democratic Party.
