The leader of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin insists on the revision of the political part of the Association Agreement with the EU as it can endanger Moldova’s sovereignty. He made such statements in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
In the program, Voronin made a number of contradictory statements concerning the Association Agreement. He does not deny its necessity, but believes that it was signed too early. “Do you remember in what conditions this accord was signed? The MPs acted promptly as if they were firefighters,” he stated.
Though Vladimir Voroni is for the European integration course, he is ready to denounce the Association Agreement because of some of its provisions, if Russia asks this. “If they do not decide to restore the relations with Russia, we will oppose the implementation of the accord. This agreement must be based on Moldova’s interests and we should not lose our traditional partners. We must have good relations with Russia,” he underlined.
The Communist leader expressed his confidence that his party will take over the country and those who impinge on the national interests will be punished. Asked by the program’s permanent invitee, Romanian journalist Cristian Tabara, if he will be allowed to work in Moldova if the Communists take power, Voronin said this will depend on the policy he will pursue.
At the end of the program, Vladimir Voronin said that he has lived in a modest apartment on the fifth floor for over 20 years and the information that he owns a lot of cars and considerable property is disseminated by the media with the aim of discrediting him by someone’s order.
