The PCRM symbols are different from the old communist ones, stated the party's leader Vladimir Voronin at a press conference on Wednesday.
According to Vladimir Voronin, there was never any trial of the communism anywhere in the world. Moreover, he claimed that the notion of “totalitarian Communist regime” was invented during the times of Mikhail Gorbachov.
“As regards the achievement of the Alliance members… With 14 years of studies at the faculty, they still didn’t notice that the current PCRM symbol has nothing to with the old symbol. It has a change, an open book. What are they fighting against? Against science and books? Against progress? The Constitutional Court should better put an end to these speculations”, stated Voronin.
The Communist leader added that since the creation of the party, there hadn’t been any complaints about any violations, so there were no reasons to ban its symbol, especially considering that 25 Communist countries in the world still use this symbol.
Asked whether he would challenge the ban on the hammer and sickle at the ECHR, Voronin replied with another question. He asked the journalist if when having an argument with her husband she tried to talk to him or ask the neighbors for help, Info-Prim Neo reports.
On July 12, the Moldovan Parliament voted to condemn the symbols of the communist regime and ban communist symbols.
