Vladimir Voronin, leader of the Party of Communists, says his party lives through each communist for whom the party member card is holy, for whom ideals aren’t empty words. During an end of year press conference, he slammed the Democrats and Socialists who fuel "absurd and lowly rumors that the Party of Communists is no more”, IPN reports.

"The party lives on through the heart of each person who hasn’t been bought or intimidated. Everybody is talking about traitors, but nobody talks about those who resisted all the threats and pressures or the lure of money and high offices”, remarked Voronin.

The Communist leader says that the main thing for PCRM in 2017 was the anniversary of the Great Socialist Revolution in October and the party organized many events dedicated to it. „We know why these events have been ignored. The Democrats and the Socialists, who control most of the mass media, organized an informational blockade against us. Neither of them are interested in the active spirit of Communists. They only spread lowly and absurd rumors that the Party of Communists is no more”, said Voronin. He labeled his rivals as „liars and small political adventurers” and said PCRM’s best answer was its report campaign and internal elections.

Voronin described the government and its Socialist satellite’s activity as a counter-revolution and dismissed their „optimist statistics that show an alleged economic growth, their shameless and unrelenting propaganda about the government’s non-existing successes or about the ‘year of the president’, without any achievements, which only divides people by their foreign policy preferences, language or identity choices”.

The politician thinks more and more people have come to understand that President Igor Dodon is the regime’s useful idiot. Dodon appears so pro-Russian that West sees no other alternative than the current government. „I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Ambassador Andrei Neguta, a member of Dodon’s team but also a collaborator of Filip’s pro-European government, was recalled by mutual agreement. It’s meant to raise the stakes before Dodon’s trip to Moscow. There are some hints that Kremlin is really disappointed by the so-called pro-Russian president”, explained Voronin.

According to him, Dodon accomplished his mission when he helped adopt the mixed voting system, which will ensure the survival of the oligarchic government after the next elections. Voronin stressed that PCRM supports the civic initiative to organize a referendum against the mixed voting system. The party has delegated members to the initiative group that will actively collect signatures to organize the referendum.

Voronin also took aim at the government reshuffling. He accused two of the new Cabinet members of being involved in the theft of the billion, as they were prime ministers back them. He says he has never heard before the names of the new ministers of health, foreign affairs, agriculture or that of the deputy PM for reintregration, and is unsure about their qualifications. Voronin also took issue with the new minister of justice, Alexandru Tanase, accusing him of being a political tool and carrying out political orders during his chairmanship of the Constitutional Court. Moreover, the Communist leader thinks Tanase should be trialed in court instead of being promoted to minister.
