The Party of Communists (PCRM) remained the only party that kept its pro-Moldovan positions on the country’s development, the party’s chairman Vladimir Voronin said in an interview for Radio Moldova, quoted by IPN.
“It is important to move the country on. This is the role of our party and each party member tends to this, no matter where they work. We must join forces to ensure the country’s success. This is what we did when we were in power and in the opposition. We didn’t accept to change according to someone’s wishes,” stated Vladimir Voronin.
The politician noted that for the sake of the country’s development, he negotiated, during the Communists’ rule, the possibility of having commercial relations with the EU in preferential conditions. The country developed very well when it enjoyed those autonomous trade preferences. The Association Agreement signed with the EU in 2014 does not contribute to the country’s development and the authorities shouldn’t have hurried to sign it.
Vladimir Voronin reminded that when the autonomous trade preferences were granted, the entry into the European Union was supported by 70% of Moldova’s population. Following the signing of the Association Agreement and the commission of wrongdoings by the governments that ruled after 2009, the support for the European integration has continuously decreased.
