Vladimir Voronin: Nine Communist MPs are blackmailed by ruling alliance

The president of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin, in a roundtable meeting on February 21, said the present administration is trying to corrupt nine members of the Communist parliamentary group so as to obtain the votes needed to elect the head of state. He did not give names, saying they will be made public when time comes, Info-Prim Neo reports. Vladimir Voronin said that all the three components of the ruling coalition are attempting to corrupt Communist lawmakers, offering them money and trying to initiate discussions with them. “Each of the three parties (the PLDM, the PL, and the PDM) is making attempts. They intend to violate the Constitution and elect the President at all costs. They offered one of them the post of Deputy Speaker of Parliament, while to the others money,” the Communist leader stated. Vladimir Voronin said that if he gave names, an investigation would have to be opened into the blackmailing of Communist MPs, but the PCRM does not want this at present. He also said that even some of the state institutions blackmail the Communist lawmakers, but he refused to name them.
