Vladimir Voronin is for maximum stability in the security zone

President Vladimir Voronin called on the Government of the Republic of Moldova to firmly continue the peaceful country reunion policy, and to ignore the Tiraspol regime intentions to sabotage political solutions to the conflict. The head of state made this appeal during a meeting dedicated to the current situation of the Transnistrean conflict from the Republic of Moldova.
According to the Presidential Press Service, a series of matters about the security area, merchandise traffic through the Transnistrian region of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, as well as the political situation of the region were discussed at this meeting.
The President stressed out the importance to keep maximum stability in the security area, and underlined that measures of social and legal support must be dedicated to the economic agents from the Transnistrian region.
The meeting was also attended by the Parliament speaker, Marian Lupu, prim-minister Vasile Tarlev, vice-prime-minister, minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Andrei Stratan, minister of Reintegration, Vasile Sova, minister of Internal Affairs, Gheorghe Papuc, head of Security and Information Service, Ion Ursu, and the presidential counselor Marc Tkaciuk.
The Tiraspol separatist regime, led by Igor Smirnov, is organizing on Sunday, September 17, a new referendum on independence. This action was not yet recognized on the international arena. Approximately 393.000 persons will answer to the question if a potential “unification with the Russian Federation” will be adequate for the region that declared independence from the Republic of Moldova in 1991.
