The leader of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Voronin considers the formation of the new Government is not legitimate. Persons who had been absent from Moldova for a long period of time were named ministers, but weren’t assessed by the Integrity Commission, which is a mandatory condition, the former President of Moldova was quoted by IPN as saying in a program on the public TV channel Moldova 1.

“The so-called ministers of the new Cabinet only occupied their seats and started to promote all kinds of relatives to posts,” stated Vladimir Voronin. He noted it is not clear why they brought people who had been absent from the country for a long period of time and these weren’t appraised by the Integrity Commission.

Vladimir Voronin said the Constitutional Court during the past few years has been politically biased towards the government and committed different violations. “The first, most serious violation of the Constitutional Court is the infringement of Article 2 of the Constitution, which says that sovereignty in the country belongs to the people, not to a group of persons or to the CC,” he stated.

The politician noted that what happened during the past ten years didn’t stimulate Moldova’s development and the country found itself in an unprecedented political crisis. “This situation was reached mainly owing to the ambitions and careerism of the persons who are involved in this process because their personal interest prevails over the people’s interest. Reason should yet prevail and this should be guided by laws, the Constitution,” he said.

As to the statement in support of the new Government that was signed recently by another two former Presidents of Moldova, Mircea Snegur and Petru Luchinski, Vladimir Voronin said he wasn’t offered to sign this statement, but he wouldn’t have signed it anyway.

The Communist leader noted he is not sure the current political crisis will be solved swiftly.
