The Association Agreement with the European Union imposes very big obligations on the Republic of Moldova and the country is not ready to fulfil them, president of the Party of Communists Vladimir Voronin stated in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova1, IPN reporters.

The Communist leader said the situation on the European dimension worsened during the past few years and this is regrettable. “Moldova cannot be situated geographically in central Europe and have bad relations with the European countries. They hurried a lot with the Association Agreement. This agreement shouldn’t have been signed because it wasn’t considered and the then and current governments didn’t event read it. When we ruled, we obtained the Asymmetric Trade Preferences and these had been enough for Moldova for 20 years ahead, but the country should be upgraded to the European standards daily, in all the institutions,” stated the ex-President of Moldova.

As to the repair of the Presidential Building with Turkey’s funds, Vladimir Voronin said he does not know how that sum of €10 million was agreed. He wouldn’t have accepted money from the Turkish authorities as this makes the Republic of Moldova much weaker. If it had been about a social project, he would have accepted the funds.
