Vladimir Voronin and AEI members clink champagne glasses separately

The members of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) Friday clinked glasses of champagne at the Palace of the Republic for the new Head of Parliament Mihai Ghimpu. At the same hour, outgoing president Vladimir Voronin drank champagne in honor of the winners of the race “Independence Cup” in the Great National Assembly Square, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Communist MPs, including Vladimir Voronin, left the meeting hall of the Parliament before the Speaker was elected. Surrounded by bodyguards and police officers, the head of state approached the participants in the race and the Tuning Show 2009 contest to congratulate them and admire their cars. The drivers travelling along the streets adjoining Stephan the Great Blvd. got stuck in terrible traffic jams and were becoming impatient.
