The ex-head of the parliamentary group of the Communist Party of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM) and ex-member of the party Violeta Ivanov obtained a rather low score in the November 1 presidential elections. According to the leader of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin, she could have finished first or second, IPN reports.

“If taking into account the amounts stolen by those involved in the ‘billion theft’, she could have won the elections or could have come second. We know how they worked with the voters. What did they found these social stores for? What is this plastic card introduced for? If you want to buy with this card, you automatically become a member of the Shor Party. There is a limit there and you cannot buy the whole shop. It was done wisely,” Vladimir Voronin stated in the talk show “Fourth Power” on N4 TV channel.

This way, Vladimir Voronin noted the score achieved by Violeta Ivanov is low. “It’s not care for this lady. I’m glad that she obtained such a score. This artificially created party should disappear. In fact, we have a lot of opportunistic parties,” he stated.

Violeta Ivanov ran in the parliamentary elections of April 2009, July 2009, 2010 and 2014 on behalf of the PCRM. In December 2015, Violeta Ivanov and 13 more MPs left the party and formed the Social-Democratic Platform “For Moldova”. In March 2017, the 14 MPs joined the Democratic Party of Moldova. In February 2019, Ivanov ran in the parliamentary elections on the Democratic ticket, securing a new seat of MP. In May 2020, Violeta Ivanov defected from the Democratic group to the team of the Shor Party. Two months before the presidential elections of November 1, the party’s leader Ilan Shor put forward Violeta Ivanov as the Shor Party’s candidate for President.
