The boycott of the presidential elections means boycott of the anti-democratic policy pursued by the present government and Marian Lupu would have been voted in as head of state only if the PCRM and PDM formed a center-left coalition, said the leader of the Communists Party Vladimir Voronin, the former President of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference on Thursday, Vladimir Voronin reiterated that the PCRM will not vote in favor of the candidate for the presidency put forward by the Alliance for European Integration, at the second round of voting either. He did not rule out that the Communist parliamentary group could field its own candidate and stressed that the PCRM, as any serious party, is prepared for early elections.
The Communist leader also said he regretted the PDM's decision to form an alliance with the Liberal parties, not the PCRM, which is ideologically closer to it. “48+13 is exactly 61, a figure given by God, and I cannot understand what Lupu and Diacov looked for. “We cannot reach an agreement with them as somebody from abroad who finances them tells them what to do,” Vladimir Voronin said.
He denied the rumors that some of the Communist MPs could vote for Marian Lupu in order to overcome the political crisis. “Things inside the PCRM stand well. The decisions are not taken as Voronin says,” he stressed. He also said that he did not discuss the election of the head of state with the Russian authorities while he paid a visit to Moscow.
Vladimir Voronin recommended the Alliance for European Integration to change its name and not to mislead the population with European integration promises.
Speaking about the accomplishments of the present administration, Voronin enumerated the signing of the agreement with the IMF and of the Convention on Small-Scale Border Traffic with Romania, but did not forget to criticize the authorities too. He said the press that is loyal to the Filat Government did not report that it was the Greceanai Government that negotiated the agreement with the IMF until August this year. As to the Convention, Voronin said that the document should have been adopted by the Parliament first and that only Filat and Leanca know the conditions of this agreement.
The Communist leader also said that the Transnistrian problem is 'profaned' and that the situation could degenerate into a conflict.
