Vladimir Plahotniuc is trying to improve his image with the assistance of Europeans and Americans, but is not sincere when he says he is pro-European and wants reforms in the country. This is how the experts from yesterday evening’s panel of the talk show “Politics”, produced by TV 7 channel, commented on the Business Forum staged under the aegis of the first deputy chairman of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc. The forum involved the former President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso, IPN reports.
Ex-minister of finance Veaceslav Negruta considers that by this event Vladimir Plahotniuc aimed to improve its image and to impose himself. “Firstly, the event is a PR campaign related to the forthcoming presidential elections. Secondly, Plahotniuc tried to impose himself on the external partners and on our business community so as to make it clear that they must discuss with him only and listen to him only,” he stated.
Economic expert Victor Ciobanu considers the Business Forum will actually not bring economic benefits to Moldova. ”I didn’t see economic development strategies for the country. Plahotniuc is looking for the support of the Americans and Europeans. But a man who concentrates all the power in his hands cannot be pro-European. The Europeans will not accept something like this. He built a system on the vertical, but we know that such systems are not resistant and collapse quickly,” he said.
Political analyst Igor Botan considers that Vladimir Plahotniuc pursues the goal of showing to the whole country that he is the real leader of Moldova. “At this forum, Plahotniuc admitted in fact that he is the head of the Republic of Moldova. Plahotniuc understands that he has to choose between two extremes – he is either a hunter or can be hunted,” stated the analyst.
Publicist Dumitru Chubashenko considers the Americans support Plahotniuc in order to have him on their side in the undeclared conflict with Russia, but will abandon him on the first occasion. “Vlad Plahotniuc’s message was a pro-European one. I think Barosso received a considerable sum for coming to this forum,” he said.
