Vladimir Liuty returned to the Moldovan championship after signing a 6-month contract with Saxan, leaders in the second tier of the league. Previously, he had coached Nistru Otaci and Rapid Ghidighici. He left the latter as a result of financial troubles, IPN reports.
Saxan's former head coach Ivan Burduniuc will carry on as Liuty's assistant. Saxan are clear leaders in Division A and have great odds for playing in the National Division next season.
The Ukrainian coach won the USSR championship twice as a player for Dnepr and the gold medal at the 1988 Olympics. He also played in the Bundesliga for Schalke, Duisburg and Bochum, where he made 39 appearances and got 2 goals to his name.
As a coach, he worked in the technical staff of Lokomotiv Moscow and served as a caretaker for FC Rostov.
